Launched in June of 2008, SHY RABBIT ArtistsNet is an association of artists who value arts education and advocate for “artists helping artists” in developing viable, sustainable, professional futures. The true strength of this association is in the combined resources of the individual artists, allowing for the expansion and promotion of this cooperative support network. Participation in ArtistsNet has paved the way for individual advancement through the design and distribution of thousands of printed mailers, introducing ArtistsNet associates and their work to an expanded nationwide audience.
ArtistsNet associates work is also featured on the SHY RABBIT website with links to individual ArtistsNet pages and personal websites. The 14 associates who were invited to participate in the newly launched SHY RABBIT ArtistsNet 2.0 have also been instrumental in the development and support of WORK-shops @ SHY RABBIT.
This innovative marketing strategy has proven to be very successful to date, generating the sale and the commission of artwork by the founding ArtistsNet associates, as well as those being introduced through ArtistsNet 2.0.
Pagosa Springs’ artist, Sandy Applegate, is known by many in the area, not only for her delightfully quirky nature, but also for the quality of her work and the high level of creativity that it evokes.
 As one of the original ArtistsNet associates, Applegate’s work continues to draw attention and to gain a much larger viewing audience through her continuing association with this collaborative support network.
“I see reality with a twist,” states Applegate. “I don’t want to be completely literal with what I paint, but I want to use my mind, my style, my color sense, my observation of people and places to fill a space with my interest and excitement.”
“Not a conventional view, but an ongoing discovery”, Applegate continues. “I’m a seeker, seeking ways to see thing uniquely. I use a lot of “free association” to define myself by distilling what I see and ultimately express."

Serving as the area’s leading contemporary art venue and teaching facility, the 4,000 square foot arts facility houses a ceramic studio and fine art gallery, two mixed-media workshops, and two large exhibition spaces. The exhibition space and arts facility is currently open winter hours 10:00am to 4:00pm, Thursday through Sunday, and daily by chance.
