God doesn’t want to be separated from us. Nor does He want visiting hours or shared custody of you with another god. He wants to see you more than every other weekend. He wants to be the center of our life. The reason for our existence. The evidence of our faith.
In his song, Be The Center, Michael Frye puts it like this, “Be my source, Be my light, Be my hope, Be my song, Be the fire in my heart, Be the wind in these sails, Be the reason that I live, Be my vision, Be my path, Be my guide.”
Is Jesus the center of your life? Does it revolve around Him and His will for your life? Is Jesus in the middle of all of your plans, dreams, and hopes? Is He the reason you live? This deeply felt desire will only exist once you have been spiritually transformed (Trans‐form [def] To change in nature, disposition, heart, character, or the like; to convert. i.e. re-formed).
This is the transforming power of Jesus Christ; which indwells us, then overflows in our everyday life. The Spirit of God touches our heart (mind, will, emotions, belief) and our nature is changed as we respond in faith to this transforming touch.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2).
We are transformed from a naturalistic man wandering through life and responding to input that is not from Heaven. We are re-formed into a physical being whose inner spirit is devoted to our Creator. As the song says, “be my source”.
God’s request is made to everyone. He knocks on the door of our heart. Will you let Him in? If so, He will come in and sup with you and your life can be transformed.
Grace and peace to you. Mark S. Disbrow, pastor Amazing Grace Community Church. 970.444.2111 www.AmazingGraceCo.org.
